Was his crime being born Palestinian?

I can’t imagine how hard to be a Palestinian today. I just read an article about this, I will quote some of it here.

Saturday was supposed to be a normal day — at least as close to normal as we are allowed to enjoy in Gaza.

Where else but in Gaza are students killed in air strikes on their classrooms? Where else does a humanitarian disaster unfold not because an earthquake, a volcano, or any other kind of natural disaster struck, but because of governmental policy, and the cooperation of world powers?

From my desk in my university classroom we could see the smoke from Israel’s bombing and hear the most terrifying sound of non-stop explosions. Girls around me screamed in horror and I thought about my camera which I left back at home for fear that rain would damage it.

Some of my classmates ran out of the university, fearing their lives, but were killed by Israeli missiles as they fled. When I called my friends abroad to ask them to make sense of what was going on in Gaza, after we were cut off electricity just as the raids began, none of them could give me logical answers.

Meanwhile, the madness continued. Children ran hysterically in the streets as all of Gaza was on fire — literally.

Al-Shifa Hospital was a terrifying scene where body upon body lay on the floor, as there was no more space for the dead in the morgue. I couldn’t bring myself to take a picture. I stared for a very long time at the faces of the martyrs; I was acquainted with some and had worked with others.

One of the injured at the hospital was a little boy heading home from school. Terrified and unable to see due to his injury, the boy was shaking and holding on to anything alive. However, I think holding his hand helped me more than it helped him; I didn’t have the words to comfort him. When doctors were able to attend to the boy, I promised him he would be OK. The next thing I knew, his little weak body, deprived of life, was lying on the hospital’s cold floor. Was his crime being born Palestinian?

As the day drew to a close, I was simultaneously sad, angry, speechless and dumbfounded by what was happening so I went back home. However, the Israeli planes did not and the attacks continued for a second day and are still ongoing.

The second day was more painful than the first since we then understood that this all wasn’t some nightmare. After I woke up, I headed directly to the hospital to document the cruel reality. As the casualties kept mounting — women, children and men alike — it was crystal clear that the whole of the people of Gaza were being targeted.

Those who are reporting the events are not exempt from the bombing and seem to be a special target. Journalists rushed to the scene of an air strike at the Saraya prison compound yesterday, thinking the bombing was all over, but a couple of minutes later another missile hit our location. We escaped with minor injuries but so far hundreds of people in Gaza have not been so lucky.

I remember a quote from Jagad Guru:

“History has shown us that our tendency to colonize and exploit other regions has always backfired. This planet can be made a happier, more peaceful place to live in, but the change will have to come from within the hearts of all of us living here.”

I would really agreed to him.

Edutainment

Last month, I mentioned that I join a culture camp that concern about environmental problem. And yesterday, some of the participants were gathering at Sinchon. After I had that gathering, I thinking again about our solutions before, which is still unclear. At that time, we said that we should educate people with to be more aware and care about environmental problem. But we didn’t really sure how to do that.
While I’m wandering around the internet and thinking about that, I figured out that make people understand trough the entertainment will be quite efficient. Yes, educational entertainment, entertainment-education or in short, edutainment. We can educate people while still amuse them. And then I made a little research a.k.a Googling and found that some people are already on that track to educate people. Just try search ecoquest wiki and you’ll found a game that also an environmental movement. I just see the screenshot of the game and I think it could be a good example for other game developers.

How to Choose Speakers for a Computer

Here I share some tips about how to choose speakers for your computer:
Tips 1
Know your budget. With the wide variety of computer speakers, the price will range anywhere from tens to even hundreds of dollars. This helps you keep from over-spending and makes the search much easier. It still all depends on what you want, but you will need to know what you can afford before you go shopping.
If you want flashy and big speakers with big subwoofer, then you will need big budget. But if your budget is a little bit low, maybe some discount computer speakers could be good alternative for you.
Tips 2
Define what your requirement. If you generally use your computer for regular work, e-mail, web surfing, or for sharing pictures you will probably only need the basic computer speakers. You can find very affordable speakers that will work great for this option. But if you intending to buy speaker that you can use to enjoy watching movie or playing games, the requirement would be different.
Tips 3
Research the brands. If you need computer speakers that will last a long time and have great user reviews you will need to see which brands are the best. You can find out this out pretty easily, by using Google.
Tips 4
Evaluate your free space. Computer speakers are generally small in size but can range to rather large speakers which can take up more space. Decide on how many speakers your desk will hold and if you have any leeway to add more in the future if needed.
Tips 5
Consider appearance. Computer speakers come in a variety of colors and styles. You will be able to decide what you like best when you start shopping so keep this in mind. If you aren’t too picky or particular about what they look like your search will be even easier.

Good luck with the tips, hope it helped!

Recently world economics is on its worst crisis, or at least one of the worst crises. AFF Cup Semifinals : Review (Part 2)

Two hours from now, the game between Singapore and Vietnam to determine which team will go to the final will started. A short and quick review from me:
Singapore, which is the smallest country in ASEAN, is more likely to win the match, as they are the defending champion of AFF cup. They even seek for their hattrick in this competition. As I did before, what I compare isn’t the squad they had, but more to managerial capacity of the coach.
Henrique Calisto, Vietnam team’s head coach stated that even though they will be playing at home, the pressure to deliver will be on the visitors as they will come into the game as the defending champions.

“I believe that the pressure will not be on us as we have already fulfilled our initial target, which was to be among the best four teams in this competition,” said Calisto.

“No one gave us a chance of making into the next round but we did it and it is because of that, the team is more relaxed and they will go into the match with a sense of enjoyment.
“We want to win of course as the last time Vietnam made the final was ten years ago. And if we can do that, then it will be sensational.”

What a clever move from Calisto to remove the burden from Vietnam team. And with this, the Vietnam team can play without unneeded pressure. It is different case with the other semifinalist, Indonesia (which defeated in front of its own fans because of unneeded pressure from coach comment).

In other hand, Raddy, Singapore coach stated :
“We go into every match and every competition with a win in mind, so there is no such thing as wanting to be defensive against Vietnam.
“Most of the players have played in big matches before and they should be well adjusted to whatever is the condition on match day.”

To emphasize, both of the teams have the confidence. And that is what exactly you need before a match. So I would like to say the game will ended up with a draw or a slightly win for Vietnam because they played in front of their fans and the cold temperature will reduce Singapore performance a bit but enough for Vietnam to take one or two goals.

But anyway, even Vietnam more likely to win this match, they will have difficult time to play at Singapore. So in my opinion, the finalist would be Singapore.

AFF Cup Semifinals : Review

Tonight (in Indonesia’s time zone) will be held the semifinal of AFF Cup 2008 between Indonesia and Thailand. This match will held in Gelora Bung Karno Indonesia as the first leg match. And the second leg will be held in Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium. Now I will write a short review about both teams.
Indonesia, with the morale down after lose to Singapore by two goals need some morale improvement from the coach. And I just checked Goal.com and this is what Indonesian coach said,

“We are playing at home and must perform our best to go for a win. This is our commitment to our fans,” Benny commented. “Our strikers have to make full use of their chances.”

I didn’t saw some morale improvement comment there, Benny Dollo have only just give more pressure to the striker which is not what Indonesia team need now.
In the same website I found what Reid (Thailand Coach) comment about upcoming match.

“Indonesia has the quality and very good pace upfront. They were quick during attacks and their striker, Bambang, is dangerous.”
Reid added that with the massive home support, it would be a difficult game. “The Indonesian crowds have been fantastic. It will be a big game atmosphere. As a player I used to enjoy the big games and I am sure my players will too. That’s football is all about. But in these games, it’s important not to panic.”
He explained that his players would have to keep their concentration and remain positive throughout. “They have a job to do. My philosophy has always been ‘you attack as a team and you defend as a team’ and that’s what we will set out to do tomorrow.”
The English coach also said that while tomorrow’s match would end after 90 minutes, there was still one more game to go to decide which team will advance to the final. “This game is only half time. Still, we’ve come here looking for a win and I hope to retain our record of not conceding any goals.”

What you’d said about his comment? I would said careful of other teams strength point but confident to win.
For the squad, Indonesia has great striking force on budi sudarsono, Bambang and Firman in the second line. But the defense is really vulnerable to set pieces situation. On the other hand, Thailand has great ability on defense and attack. For quick rating,

Indonesia : Attack:7, Midfield:8 Defense:6.5; and

Thailand : Attack:8 Midfield: 8 Defense:9

If you see my rating here the winner is clear enough, but this is football. Anything could happened.

Anyway, If you wanted to watch it online, I found some good site. Maybe you should download some software.

It is all about meeting the demand from advertiser that wanted their product (can be any kind of product ranging from web host to insurance or eyeglasses :D ) to be reviewed or promoted. And the blogger can be the one who realize they needs, with writing the review about the product. But how they can meet each other? This is where some site provides a service as third party where the advertiser meets the publisher (bloggers). The advertiser and the blogger sign up to these website, and the advertiser can choose, which they want to be their publisher.
One of the websites that serve us such services is the payingpost.com. It works as third party that connects the advertiser with the bloggers as publisher. If you want to give it a try, PayingPost has a step-by-step guide for you. In no time, you can be on your way to earning money from blogging too.

Korean shopping online habit

Being life here in South Korea bring so many culture shock for me. Like the complete opposite direction in the road (here they use the right side of the road, and back in my country, we use the left side). Also the car driver position is completely different or the basic human needs, eating.

But one of the most unusual things for me is their fast internet connection!! Really, they provide fast and cheap internet connection everywhere, even in my small room. And because of this fast internet they had, Korean people really crazy about shopping online. Trust me, even one of my friend never go to the actual market for buying clothes or books! They always go to the online stores. And this lifestyle seems to affect me too. I really like to search things online since I life here especially for the electronics stuffs. Sometimes I just look around for comparing prices and when I’m doing that, I always go to my favorite online store search engine to looking for the least price.

For example, these days, I really wanted to buy an iPod Nano, but I’m short of budget and I check the site. I look for the 4GB one, because I think this is the one with most reachable price for me. And you know what? By using this site I found $76 difference between two sites. That’s even enough for another iPod.
