Derby della Madonnina, watch it online!

Derby della Madonnina, or the Milan Derby as it is sometimes known, is a football match between the Italian clubs A.C. Milan and F.C. Internazionale Milano (Inter). It is a hotly contested local derby and is one of the most followed derbies in football world. It is usually a semiannual fixture in the Italian football league Serie A; however, the derby has also taken place in the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League.
It is called “Derby della Madonnina” in honour of one of the main sights of the city of Milan, the statue of the virgin Mary on the top of the Duomo, which is usually called “Madonnina”.
this year derby will provide very interesting game, a little review for both team:

Jose Mourinho v Carlo Ancelotti

Ancelotti certainly got the better of the ‘Special One’ earlier in the season, as his side were deserved 1-0 winners in late September. Mourinho, with practically a full squad at his disposal, will be confident of revenge, but really when is the Portuguese tactician lacking in confidence?

Esteban Cambiasso v Andrea Pirlo

Both players are employed in a deep midfield position, but perform very different roles for their respective teams. Cambiasso’s job is to sit in front of and protect the defence, while Pirlo’s is to dictate the offence.

Both have been in relatively good form in 2009 and will be desperate to help their sides to an historic victory. What will come out on top - Cambiasso’s effort and tenacity? Or Pirlo’s incisive passing ability?

Sulley Muntari v David Beckham

The Ghanaian and English midfielder will likely have several direct confrontations throughout the match. Beckham has been a revelation with Milan thus far, adding some much needed width and poise to the midfield. Muntari will try to make sure that ‘Golden Balls’ is closed down at every opportunity.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic v Ronaldinho

Masters with the ball at their feet, Ibra and Ronnie need to find that bit of ‘magic’ to lift their side to a derby win. The passion from the San Siro crowd will drive every player in terms of effort, but in terms of creativity these are the two who will be relied upon.

The Super Swede has had a fairly consistent and impressive season, while Ronaldinho has been out of the Rossoneri line-up for the most part in 2009. Given the opportunity, and probable absence of Kaka, the Brazilian maestro will want to prove to his doubters and to Milan that he was a gamble worth taking.

Javier Zanetti v Paolo Maldini

The two captain’s have seen their fair share of derbies over the years. They are nearing the end of their illustrious careers, especially in the case of Maldini, who will want to make his potentially last derby a memorable one. Both players are consummate professionals and will no doubt take their team by the scruff of the neck when necessary.

According to the latest reports, this is how the two teams could line-up:

Inter: Julio Cesar, Santon, Materazzi, Samuel, Maxwell, Zanetti, Cambiasso, Muntari, Stankovic, Adriano, Ibrahimovic

Milan: Abbiati, Zambrotta, Maldini, Kaladze, Jankulovski, Pirlo. Ambrosini, Beckham, Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Pato

This derby is too interesting to be left out, so watch here!

AFF Cup Semifinals : Review (Part 2)

Two hours from now, the game between Singapore and Vietnam to determine which team will go to the final will started. A short and quick review from me:
Singapore, which is the smallest country in ASEAN, is more likely to win the match, as they are the defending champion of AFF cup. They even seek for their hattrick in this competition. As I did before, what I compare isn’t the squad they had, but more to managerial capacity of the coach.
Henrique Calisto, Vietnam team’s head coach stated that even though they will be playing at home, the pressure to deliver will be on the visitors as they will come into the game as the defending champions.

“I believe that the pressure will not be on us as we have already fulfilled our initial target, which was to be among the best four teams in this competition,” said Calisto.

“No one gave us a chance of making into the next round but we did it and it is because of that, the team is more relaxed and they will go into the match with a sense of enjoyment.
“We want to win of course as the last time Vietnam made the final was ten years ago. And if we can do that, then it will be sensational.”

What a clever move from Calisto to remove the burden from Vietnam team. And with this, the Vietnam team can play without unneeded pressure. It is different case with the other semifinalist, Indonesia (which defeated in front of its own fans because of unneeded pressure from coach comment).

In other hand, Raddy, Singapore coach stated :
“We go into every match and every competition with a win in mind, so there is no such thing as wanting to be defensive against Vietnam.
“Most of the players have played in big matches before and they should be well adjusted to whatever is the condition on match day.”

To emphasize, both of the teams have the confidence. And that is what exactly you need before a match. So I would like to say the game will ended up with a draw or a slightly win for Vietnam because they played in front of their fans and the cold temperature will reduce Singapore performance a bit but enough for Vietnam to take one or two goals.

But anyway, even Vietnam more likely to win this match, they will have difficult time to play at Singapore. So in my opinion, the finalist would be Singapore.

AFF Cup Semifinals : Review

Tonight (in Indonesia’s time zone) will be held the semifinal of AFF Cup 2008 between Indonesia and Thailand. This match will held in Gelora Bung Karno Indonesia as the first leg match. And the second leg will be held in Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium. Now I will write a short review about both teams.
Indonesia, with the morale down after lose to Singapore by two goals need some morale improvement from the coach. And I just checked Goal.com and this is what Indonesian coach said,

“We are playing at home and must perform our best to go for a win. This is our commitment to our fans,” Benny commented. “Our strikers have to make full use of their chances.”

I didn’t saw some morale improvement comment there, Benny Dollo have only just give more pressure to the striker which is not what Indonesia team need now.
In the same website I found what Reid (Thailand Coach) comment about upcoming match.

“Indonesia has the quality and very good pace upfront. They were quick during attacks and their striker, Bambang, is dangerous.”
Reid added that with the massive home support, it would be a difficult game. “The Indonesian crowds have been fantastic. It will be a big game atmosphere. As a player I used to enjoy the big games and I am sure my players will too. That’s football is all about. But in these games, it’s important not to panic.”
He explained that his players would have to keep their concentration and remain positive throughout. “They have a job to do. My philosophy has always been ‘you attack as a team and you defend as a team’ and that’s what we will set out to do tomorrow.”
The English coach also said that while tomorrow’s match would end after 90 minutes, there was still one more game to go to decide which team will advance to the final. “This game is only half time. Still, we’ve come here looking for a win and I hope to retain our record of not conceding any goals.”

What you’d said about his comment? I would said careful of other teams strength point but confident to win.
For the squad, Indonesia has great striking force on budi sudarsono, Bambang and Firman in the second line. But the defense is really vulnerable to set pieces situation. On the other hand, Thailand has great ability on defense and attack. For quick rating,

Indonesia : Attack:7, Midfield:8 Defense:6.5; and

Thailand : Attack:8 Midfield: 8 Defense:9

If you see my rating here the winner is clear enough, but this is football. Anything could happened.

Anyway, If you wanted to watch it online, I found some good site. Maybe you should download some software.

Indonesia - Singapore (0 - 2)

Not so good result for Indonesia lost 2-0 from Singapore even when playing at home side is quite unacceptable. But by seeing Indonesian team’s play, it just really stupid strategy there. Using both flank attack and relying on crossing direct to the strikers from both sides is quite idiot considering the height of Indonesian strikers. Do you ask me why I called that strategy as idiot one? Bambang is only 171 meters and Budi is 174 Meter. Compare them with Singapore defenders like Baihakki Khaizan (190) or Daniel Bennett (184). See? That’s idiot. Using attacking trough the middle is far more make sense because Indonesia had really good long shoot executor like Firman Utina or Ponaryo. But the real disaster was the least concentrated defender while defending against set-pieces situation such as freekicks. Just see the video, without those two freekicks, the score would be more likely as a draw.

Indonesia - Cambodia (4-0)

Good news for Indonesian, Indonesia beat Cambodia by 4 goals. A hattrick by Budi Sudarsono and one goal by Bambang Pamungkas. By this win Indonesia qualified to the next stage. And the opponent would be Thailand or Vietnam. Depend on the last match facing Singapore. Good Job Red-White !!

AFF CUP 2008 @ Thailand and Indonesia

I just realize that this week the AFF CUP will start with Indonesia and Thailand as the host. this year the tournament titled AFF Suzuki Cup 2008, named after the main Sponsor Suzuki. i wonder what will be the competition name 2 years from now
(they always changed it).

AFF 2008 Logo

On this event there will be 8 teams separated into two groups.
Group A consist of Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Singapore as title holder. While in group B Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam will fight for two places in semifinal.
more info for the event just go to their official website at http://www.affsuzukicup.com/

Talking about soccer, I always miss the excitement of Asian Cup 2007 in Jakarta. At that time, I saw all Indonesia’s match in SUGBK (Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno), I really like the one when we beat Bahrain by 2-1. I also love Elie Aiboy’s goal against Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, for this AFF 2008, I couldn’t go there. I hope some Korean TV will broadcast this tournament :( .
I hope we will get better result than in Asian Cup 2007. Fighting!!

Lost Again.. :(

I just read an article about Indonesian Football National Team, or more known as “Timnas”… *sigh*…
the title was: “Dipermak Myanmar, Indonesia Gagal Juara”. The story was about result of Final Match Grand Royal Challenge 2008 between Indonesia and Myanmar…, it’s just like small competition in South East Asia. Sadly Indonesia Lost in the final…
And then, I start wondering about “Timnas”…

Back in 70’s Indonesia was a major power team in South East Asia, Competing really hard with Thailand to be the number one… but now, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam seems better by far… Indonesia is more like second class team, in South East Asia! not even in Asia,, just, what the heck are the Football Association do?? Ah, yeah, I forgot, they didn’t even have a leader!!
*sigh* :(
